Ira Wood was an unlikely candidate for selectman in an old New England town. A Jewish kid from New York, a writer of ribald novels, a political activist from Cambridge married to a notorious feminist poet, he didn’t have a child in the schools, a job in construction, or even a boat, and consequently knew almost nobody in town. How did the consummate outsider get elected, to four terms? Join him as he ponders this and many other mysteries of small town life.
